Sophie Kipner – fine artist of ‘DLUDLD’ method & author

SOPHIE KIPNER grew up in Topanga, CA, of artistic English & Australian parents and is a magna cum laude graduate of the Annenberg School of Journalism at USC.  But her interest has also been in fine arts, and it is Sophie’s itinerant path to Australia, London and back that culminated in the discovery of her new style of artwork, aptly dubbed DONTLIFTUPDONTLOOKDOWN (or DLUDLD), that we will discuss primarily today and how it has taken off in popularity.

El Dorado Arts Council’s President for the past 4 yrs, DAN CATTONE, and its new Executive Director as of July, '15, TERRY LeMONCHECK.  Dan’s background is extensive in sales, business consulting and the electronics industry while Terry has come to EDAC w over 20 yrs in arts management incl 12 yrs as the Pasadena Arts Council’s Exec Dir.  We'll be discussing the Council's future plans and how SLT will be included!

Julia Shipley – poet, author, writer, editor

JULIA SHIPLEY is the poet author of a full-length poetry collection, The Academy of Hay – Bona Fide Books, 2015, winner of the Melissa Lanitis Gregory Poetry Prize – plus a long-form lyric essay, Adam's Mark, which was selected as one of Boston Globe’s “Best New England Books of 2014.”  Julia’s resume is impressive and lengthy, and she will be giving a reading for the LTCC Writers’ Series Fri, Nov 13.
