Julio Larraz – metaphorical, representational oil painter

JULIO LARRAZ - metaphorical, representational oil painter - was born in Cuba and now lives and works in Florida.  After a series of moves in the early ‘60s, his family settled in NY where he became successful as a political caricaturist.  Then in 1967 Julio began to work full-time as a professional painter at the ripe old age of 23.  The rest of his story and process we’ll dive into today.

AMANDA HORN, Director of Communications for the NV Museum of Art in Reno, NV, is here to tell us about the museum’s current exhibition Tahoe: A Visual History that spans 200 years of cultural and creative production related to Lake Tahoe, Donner Pass, and the surrounding Sierra region. This is the first major art historical survey dedicated to the Tahoe region, and it takes over almost the entire museum’s space!

ADDIE CHERNUS is an accomplished silk painting artist from San Diego and S Lake Tahoe whose credentials are numerous along with showings ranging from the U of Maryland to the Arlene Siegel Gallery (Santa Fe) to Lake Tahoe Community College. Addie’s background in and love of travel and education have led her to focus on plein air silk painting and teaching children which we’ll talk about today.
