TAL’s 10th Annual Artist Studio Tour w Walt & Connie

John Dayberry & Hayley Chamarro – mentoring & public art in SLT

JOHN DAYBERRY - designer & builder of "Installation Art" and owner of Native Elements - and HAYLEY CHAMARRO - STHS graduate of 2016, artist and photographer - collaborated to create the artistic & historically relevant cover for new Lakeview Commons fire pit in SLT.  This piece of functional Public Art that has aesthetic as well as historical & cultural elements is just one example of how Art can uplift and bring community together.  We will be diving into how this project came about, its significance & story as art, personal opinions re the Arts and education, etc.

Ian Ruhter – wet plate photographer; & Nancy Harrison – LTCC Foundation

IAN RUHTER, wet plate photographer from S Lake Tahoe, and NANCY HARRISON, Exec Dir of the LTCC Foundation in SLT.  Ian’s special process and one-of-a-kind camera truck and images have been featured by National Geographic and the Travel Channel as well as the NY Times.  He and Nancy have partnered via LTCC’s special annual event, “Taste of Gold” on July 9, to unveil his new collection, "The Lake", as a way of celebrating the special relationship he and the college have.

Peter Goin – professional photographer & Prof of Art, UNR

PETER GOIN is an American photographer best known for his work within the altered landscape, specifically his photographs published in the book Nuclear Landscapes.  His work has been shown in over 50 museums nationally & internationally, and he is the recipient of 2 National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships.  Peter moved to Reno in 1984 and is currently a Foundation Professor of Art in Photography and Videography at the U of NV Reno.  He has done extensive rephotography work in the Lake Tahoe region and is part of a digitization project we will be focusing on today.
